On September 11 the Troop went on our last backpacking trip of the season. We hiked up to Mt. Baden-Powell on Saturday morning. We gained 2750 feet in about 3.5 miles. Normally I say that the profiles that I post here are not as bad as they look, but not this time. Most everyone on the trip said it was one of the toughest of the year, even Mr. Hull.
After spending some time at the peak we started down the trail to Little Jimmy Campground, about 7 miles away. Along the way we got to see some sail planes, including one the was at about the top of the trees as it flew over us. We made it to camp at around 6PM. After cooking spaghetti for dinner everyone hit the sack at around 8. It was a long hard hike and everyone was beat.
We hiked out to Islip Saddle on Sunday morning after a nice breakfast of pancakes and hash browns.
